The actor, who has played Ken Barlow on the soap for over 50 years, admitted that he had a fling with former co-star Pat Phoenix and has slept with "up to 1,000 women".
Nolan said that she understands why Roache would have been a hit with the opposite sex when he was younger, telling The Mirror: "I've always said it's the quiet ones you have to watch.
"Who would have thought that mild-mannered Ken had it in him? All those years we believed he was toiling away on the Weatherfield Recorder and discussing local history in the Rovers. It turns out he was actually bedding a string of women.
"Oops, sorry, I've made that old mistake of confusing Ken with bonking Bill. Now we know they're very different characters. I can understand why Bill would have had such success in his younger days.
"Back then he was the Che Guevara of the cobbles, all floppy haired and firm principled. Long before Adam Rickitt, Keith Duffy and Ryan Thomas, Bill Roache was putting the hot into hotpot."
Nolan said that she believes Roache "clearly has some regrets about his love life during his wild days" but said that she thinks it is better to have "memories of fun and frolics than no memories at all".
