Ex-Corrie star's wife tied up by robbers

The wife of ex-Corrie star Ken Morley was tied up by burglars during a raid on the couple's home last week.

Morley, 64, who played Reg Holdsworth in the Manchester-based soap, was not at his home in Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire when the robbers arrived on Friday evening.

Three men, wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, tied up his wife Susan's wrists and ankles with cable ties before escaping with some jewellery.

The men have been described as being aged in their 30s with Irish accents. It is the second time the Morleys' home has been raided in recent years.

Susan Morley told The People: "I was threatened with a crowbar and it was horrendous - utterly and totally horrendous.

"They threatened to kill me and were shouting in my face."

Her soap star husband added: "It is a sign of the times that a woman is no longer safe, even in her own home.

"It's like an epidemic of crime is sweeping the country and there is just no deterrent."
