Police responded to the call, reportedly made by Garrison's ex-girlfriend Ashley Mattingly, at the actor's Beverly Hills apartment yesterday.
He was jailed with bail set at $50,000 (£31,010), Entertainment Weekly reports.
Garrison, who played David "Tweener" Apolskis in the first two seasons of Fox drama Prison Break, was sentenced to 40 months in jail for vehicular manslaughter and DUI in 2007.
That sentence stemmed from a fatal car crash the year before in which a teenage boy died and two teenage girls were seriously injured.
Garrison ultimately served less than two years, having settled two lawsuits filed in relation to the crash.
