"We had a verbal agreement where I was providing food and clothes for them," Casteen explained to Radar Online.
"It wasn't until we went to court earlier this month that we were told by a judge that the verbal agreement didn't have legal standing, and that I owed $28,000 (£17,000). I immediately paid $10,000 (£6,000) of that amount."
Casteen currently visits her children every month at their father's home and looks after them on holidays.
It was recently announced that Jones has landed a cameo role in TVLand show The Exes.
