The couple announced their relationship in February 2009 and were engaged by August of that year, going on to tie the knot in a private California ceremony in August 2010.
Moyer revealed in an interview with PopEater that he and Paquin had initially resolved to avoid an on-set romance but were eventually unable to ignore the mutual attraction.
Moyer explained: "I've not got an original bone in my body. I think we were both not in relationships at the time, we were sort of dating and I don't think we were looking. There was an attraction, obviously and undeniably, but in your head you're going, 'That would be such a cliché!'
"Also, I've said this before but all of these people have signed on to do this gig; they're hoping it's going to last seven years and the last thing that you want to do is screw it up for everybody by having a little flirtation and then hating each other for the next seven years. So you think you're not going to act on this but you know our resolve didn't last long."
Moyer recently expressed his desire to see an on-screen relationship between Paquin and co-star Alexander Skarsgård's True Blood characters as he believes it necessary to move the series along.
He has claimed that Paquin occasionally allows him to bite True Blood fans' boobs.
