The 32-year-old recently issued a "cease and desist" order to the network demanding that production on Jon & Kate Plus 8 be stopped.
He had threatened to call the police if any crew members attempted to enter the family home which he owns with estranged wife Kate.
Speaking on Larry King Live about his decision, he said: "The reason I don't think it's healthy for them is that we're going through a divorce right now and I don't think it should be televised and I think my kids should be taken off the show. They're 5 and 8 now, let them experience a normal childhood."
TLC recently announced that the show would be renamed Kate Plus Eight, with a greater focus on Kate's role as a single mother. Jon had reportedly been slated to make occasional guest appearances.
Lawyers for Kate told Larry King that Jon did not have the legal right to stop the children being filmed because of an agreement that the couple signed following their separation that said "the party with physical custody will decide if they will be on taping".
TLC previously dismissed the "cease and desist order" but suspended filming on the show until Jon and Kate could talk. Yesterday, Kate issued a statement saying that she was "saddened" and "confused" by her estranged husband's actions.
