The father-of-eight ordered TLC to "cease and desist" filming on Jon & Kate Plus 8 yesterday. He alleged that the network did not have the necessary permits for the children's involvement on the series, while they later suspended production on the reality show.
The 32-year-old went on Larry King's US chatshow last night and defended his actions. Gosselin said he had nothing to do with the recent announcement that the show was to be relaunched with estranged wife Kate as a single mother on Kate Plus 8, E! reports.
He said: "It's my right as a parent and as a father of my kids to determine whether the show is good for my family. I don't think it's healthy for them because we're going through a divorce right now. I don't think it should be televised and I think my kids should be taken off the show.
"I take blame [for not speaking up sooner] for not being an initiator. I was an avoider. I was passive."
It was reported earlier that Jon had said he was attempting to reconcile with Kate as a parent.
