Tim Gunn: 'Lady GaGa's meat dress was nauseating'

Tim Gunn has said that he couldn't imagine following in Lady GaGa's footsteps and wearing an outfit made of meat.

GaGa wore a dress designed from different cuts of meat to the MTV Video Music Awards last year. She also wore a meat hat and meat boots and carried a meat purse.

During an appearance on the Late Late Show on Friday night, Gunn was asked by Craig Ferguson if there would be any meat projects inspired by GaGa on the current season of Project Runway.

"Fortunately we are fur and meat-free on Project Runway," replied Gunn.

"Did anyone really like that get-up?" he added. "Can you imagine wearing it? I'm thinking about flies, I'm thinking about odour, I'm thinking about comfort. It's just nauseating, the entire concept. You're wearing steak tartare, basically."

Gunn previously suggested that GaGa's meat dress was not that creative, saying: "It was a costume of the craziest kind. It's shock value pure and simple. I respect Lady GaGa and her work, but we've been here before."

Project Runway kicked off its ninth season last week, with 20 designers arriving in New York. The first episode saw four designers almost immediately booted after failing to impress the judges with their designs, while another was eliminated at the first runway of the season, which featured Christina Ricci as a guest judge.

Project Runway airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Lifetime.
