'Project Runway' Michael Kors marries partner

Michael Kors and partner Lance LePere have married.

The designer and Project Runway judge wed LePere on Tuesday in a ceremony held on Dune Beach in Southampton, New York, reports Women's Wear Daily.

Southampton Mayor Mark Epley is said to have officiated the wedding, which was attended by the couple's family and friends.

"To marry someone as wonderful and special to me as Lance barefoot on a glorious beach is more than I could have dreamed of," Kors said.

Kors met LaPere in 1990, when LePere began interning for his fashion company in Paris.

New York State became the sixth state to recognise same-sex marriages in June 2011, when Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Marriage Equality Act.

Kors and LaPere were first reported to be engaged after they applied for a marriage licence in New York City earlier this month.
