Richardson was arrested on Friday night, following the fatal altercation in the parking lot of Atlanta strip club Body Tap.
Jewell's co-worker has been charged with voluntary manslaughter for the incident, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Magistrate Sylvia McCoy also ordered that he be held without bond due to "the nature of the crime", until his forthcoming court appearance on October 20.
Richardson's attorney Dennis Scheib argued unsuccessfully that his client should not be held on the specific charge as the cause of Jewell's injuries had not been determined. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that it was awaiting test results before making a ruling on the 34-year-old’s death.
Prior to appearing in court, Scheib informed the media that Jewell had allegedly pulled a gun on his client, which led to the fight transpiring.
Meanwhile, local law enforcement officials have said that the argument stemmed from a disagreement regarding the club.
"They had some words about a business decision. It seems like there was a struggle for power over the club," said Lt Keith Meadows.
Burruss released an official statement yesterday and revealed that her "heart is heavy with grief" over the situation.
