'Housewives' Frankel confirms pregnancy

Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel has confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child.

The 38-year-old recently revealed that she and boyfriend Jason Hoppy are engaged.

Frankel told People that she had wanted to wait until later in her pregnancy to announce the news. However, blogger Perez Hilton triggered online speculation that she is expecting, causing her to speak out earlier.

She said: "It's premature to be telling people this. It's not like, 'Did I get botox?' It's not the way I wanted it to get out. I haven't even gone through my first trimester. We haven't even heard the heartbeat. My [fiancé's] parents didn't even know.

"I am praying everything is okay but I don't know that yet."

However, she did admit that she and Hoppy are "proud" of themselves for the conception itself.

She added: "I've got to be honest, we are both feeling kind of proud of ourselves. We are both 38 and we were like, 'Listen, your fish can swim and I am fertile'. So that's exciting."

Bravo recently announced that Frankel will star in her own spinoff series.
