Alex McCord defends Bethenny Frankel

Real Housewives Of New York City star Alex McCord has defended castmate Bethenny Frankel's weight loss following her pregnancy.

The reality star - who welcomed daughter Bryn on May 8 - recently revealed that she had lost 29lbs of the 35lbs she gained in less than a month.

Speaking to Us Weekly, McCord said: "People who are bugging her about it are reprehensible. [It is] absolutely ridiculous to bother her about this. She is a brand new mommy."

She went on to share her own experience of pregnancy weight, saying that she gained around 45lbs while pregnant with her first child and "it was all gone within less than a month".

"I mean, two weeks after Francois was born I was in free pregnancy chains," she added. "There are some people who win the genetic lottery, and it melts off."

Frankel previously spoke out in defence of her figure, saying that she ate healthily during the pregnancy but did allow herself to indulge occasionally. She also revealed that she followed a vegetarian diet and alternated yoga sessions and walking.

Her new show Bethenny Gets Married? premieres June 10 on Bravo.
