The Hills star teamed up with comedy website Funny Or Die for a spoof Entertainment Tonight report, in which she showed cameras around her 'workplace' at the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne in the San Fernando Valley.
The "reality show star, actress and scientist of tomorrow" claims in the clip: "I've always loved science growing up. It just never really came up on The Hills."
Stating that she has been helping to develop the next generation of liquid hydrogen-fuelled rocket engines, Patridge added: "I know people don't really look at me and go, 'Oh, that's the girl who does all the advanced engineering'. But it's okay, this is who I really am."
The fake footage has so far been viewed almost 13,000 times on Funny Or Die alone.
It was confirmed this week that Patridge's self-titled solo reality show will premiere on Sunday, April 17 at 9pm ET/PT on VH1.
