Kristin Cavallari ex-fiancé 'too controlling', says friend

Kristin Cavallari's ex-fiancé Jay Cutler has been described as too "controlling" by a source.

It was announced yesterday that the couple had called off their engagement after three months. Today, a friend of Cavallari revealed that Cutler was too domineering for the former Hills star.

"Jay Cutler was beyond controlling and didn't really like Kristin to go out," the friend told People. "When she did go out, he called all the time and demanded to know exactly where she was going and who she was with."

The insider went on to say that the broken engagement was not surprising.

"He made her choose between him and being friends with a lot of her girlfriends," the friend continued. "I'm not surprised it didn't last."

Cutler popped the question to the former Hills star in late April. The two first started dating in September of last year.

Cavallari declared in May that it was love at first sight between her and her ex-fiancé, saying that she knew she would marry the NFL star the moment she first set eyes on him.
