Heidi Montag: 'I blew a million dollars'

By
Heidi Montag has admitted that she and Spencer Pratt have spent most of their reality TV earnings.

The former stars of MTV's The Hills were said to be earning $100,000 (£62,475) an episode at the height of the show's success, but the pair are now struggling financially.

"I've never really counted, so I'm not sure [how much we lost], a lot, over a million or so," Montag told Access Hollywood Live.

She blamed the expenses on "clothes, hair and make-up, managers, publicists, agents and lawyers", adding that the only thing she misses about reality TV is the money.

"If we would have saved our money, it would have been better," she said.

Montag and Pratt are now living in a house owned by his family in an attempt to keep their expenses under control.

"We both just kind of stepped back and have been able to reflect on who we've been, where we want to go and who want to be and what we want in our lives, and it wasn't the path we were going down," Montag explained.

"We're very grounded and humbled, and money and fame and the fast life, you don't really know how you're going to react to it. I certainly never thought I would become the person that I was."

Montag previously confessed that starring on The Hills nearly "destroyed" her, stating that she now regrets her extensive plastic surgery.
