The former Hills star met Palermo after she moved to New York to film the spinoff reality show and worked alongside her at Diane Von Furstenberg.
Port has since returned to People's Revolution and Palermo currently works for Elle.
Speaking to MTV News, she said: "Olivia and I have crossed paths a little bit at work events.
"We worked together at a Longchamp event, and then we saw each other at Miami Fashion Week and so we bump into each other. But socially, we don't really hang out. Sometimes we check in with each other, 'How are you? What's going on? Is everything OK?' But [we're] not really super best friends."
The new season of The City premiered on MTV last night.
