Survivor winner Yul Kwon has been appointed the deputy chief of the FCC's Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau.

The 34-year-old, who triumphed in Survivor: Cook Islands in 2006, told The Washington Post that he had been an early supporter of President Barack Obama.

"I feel like this country is in a critical time right now. If there's one place you can have an impact, it's here," he explained.

The attorney went on to say that he had just relocated to Arlington with wife Sophie Tan and explained that his new role would involve making the group more consumer friendly and educating the public.

When asked if his time on Survivor would be beneficial to the job, he replied: "I played a clean game! I showed you could win by playing with integrity."

Earlier this year, House star Kal Penn left the medical drama after he landed a role as a liaison between Obama's administration and arts groups.
