The reality star popped the question to former show contestant Molly Malaney during a vacation to New Zealand earlier this week.
He had hit the headlines following his stint on the ABC show after ditching original choice Melissa Rycroft in favour of Malaney.
Speaking to People, Harris said: "We had no idea they got engaged and we just literally talked to them yesterday.
"They sent us a picture of them in New Zealand and they looked so happy... I guess I never thought about it, but them being in New Zealand would be the best time to do it. It all makes sense!"
She added: "They're so awesome together. We hung out with them in Vancouver - the four of us - and we had so much fun. We'll definitely want to hang out more in the future."
Harris is currently engaged to her Bachelorette suitor Ed Swiderski.
