Malaney 'gave up Bachelorette for Mesnick'

Bachelor star Jason Mesnick has claimed that his fiancée Molly Malaney potentially gave up the chance to appear in The Bachelorette for him.

The reality star originally selected Melissa Rycroft as his chosen partner, but later asked fellow contestant Malaney for a second chance.

Speaking to Us Weekly, he said that a week after he proposed to Rycroft, producers "kept asking me if I thought Molly would make a good Bachelorette.

"I realised I was not willing to let Molly go on TV and have 25 guys fight over her."

He revealed that Rycroft had also been considered for The Bachelorette, explaining: "We were still on good terms after we [split]... so we talked about that for weeks."

Mesnick and Malaney became engaged last month during a vacation in New Zealand.
