The Bachelorette star was arrested in January after a brawl at a nightclub, in which he allegedly hit a man and his girlfriend.
Kahl was charged with felony assault, battery with serious bodily injury and public intoxication last week after prosecutors decided they have enough evidence to take the case to court, TMZ reports.
Kahl, who was jailed, was accused of being under the influence of alcohol and a drug called toluene, which is found in paint thinners.
However, upon his release from jail later that day, Kahl told TMZ that he has never sniffed paint.
Describing the claims as "ridiculous", he said: "I've never smoked marijuana in my life, so."
He also denied suggestions that he had taken a blood or alcohol test and explained that he was defending himself during the brawl.
"I never hit a girl," he said. "Never have I ever, ever in my entire life hit a girl. It was nothing like that. Some guy punched me in the face and I defended myself, and they pretty much put me in a holding tank and let me go because nothing happened."
Kahl, who split from his Bachelor Pad co-star Vienna Girardi in November, also revealed that he will return to court next month.
