During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the Celebrity Apprentice contestant admitted that the Jackson family has struggled since the 'Thriller' singer passed away in 2009.
"It's been a rough time," she said. "Michael was one of the most loved people in the world."
La Toya went on to reveal that she learned of her brother's death while speaking to her mother Katherine on the phone as she drove to the UCLA Medical Centre.
She explained: "[My mother Katherine] grabbed the phone and she screamed as loud as she could, [saying] 'He's dead!' When she did that, I almost crashed the car. I started crying and my head went to the steering wheel.
"I started begging people on the street to drive me because my legs got so weak… I couldn't believe it. My heart just fell to the ground."
La Toya recently professed that she is very proud of Michael's children Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II.
The Celebrity Apprentice airs Sundays on NBC.
