Hudson bids farewell to murdered family

Actress Jennifer Hudson has attended the funeral of her murdered mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew.

The funeral took place in South Side, Chicago, where an estimated 2,500 mourners filed past the open caskets of Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson and Julian King before a private service commenced.

The former American Idol contestant spent a few moments with each family member, lingering at her mother's open casket before leaning down to kiss her goodbye, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The family were joined by fellow Idol star Fantasia Barrino, who performed classic gospel song 'Your Grace And Mercy'. Calling the Hudsons "my family", Barrino held Hudson's hand and sang directly to her.

Hudson's mother and brother were shot dead on October 25. The body of her nephew was found three days later.
