The 29-year-old, who finished third in last season's show, is currently promoting debut album My Best Days and its single 'My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me'.
"I feel very lucky of the progression I've made in the last year-and-a-half," he is quoted as telling People.
The singer, who is also working to expand Sophia's Heart Foundation, the nonprofit organisation in honour of his late wife, added: "I'm very busy and enjoying life again. I'm very happy."
Gokey is scheduled to support Sugarland on tour later this year.
