The singer was asked by Zap 2 It whether she was on 'Team Edward' or 'Team Jacob' in reference to vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black from the Twilight franchise.
"They're both great! Can I say that!?" she replied. "I'm more of a vampire kind of person so I'd have to say Edward... I'm just a fan of vampires. I think they're cool and usually they are hot and fair-skinned just like me!"
She continued: "You know what's funny? I know Rachelle [Lefevre] who was the red-headed vampire in the first Twilight. That's the only reason I actually watched it! She's really cool."
Benami was joined by runner-up Crystal Bowersox for the interview, with the latter admitting that she had "no idea" what the reporter meant by 'Team Edward' and 'Team Jacob' but is also a fan of vampires.
The pair are currently rehearsing with the rest of this season's Top 10 for the American Idol summer tour, which kicks off July 1 in Detroit.
