It had been claimed previously that Lopez's first husband Ojani Noa was planning to audition on the show by singing one of her hit songs.
However Radar Online has now reported that Lopez spoke with the American Idol producers and explained that she would be uncomfortable having to judge him.
As a result, Noa was warned by the show that he could face arrest if he attempted to make an appearance and has subsequently decided against auditioning.
Lopez and Noa wed in 1997 but divorced within one year of marriage. The former couple have been involved in a number of legal disputes since the divorce, including Lopez banning Noa from publishing a book revealing intimate details about their marriage.
It was announced earlier this week that Lopez would join Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler on the judging panel for American Idol as replacements for Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.
