Tyler responds to Kid Rock criticism

American Idol judge Steven Tyler has revealed that he recently confronted Kid Rock over comments the singer made about Tyler's decision to join the Idol judging panel.

Last year Kid Rock claimed that Tyler had sold out by signing up for the show, and that it was the stupidest thing that he had ever heard.

Tyler now claims that he saw Kid Rock at a special event towards the end of 2010 and made amends.

"I looked at him and said, 'You know what man, I'm not going to argue with you, if I agreed with you we'd both be wrong'," Tyler told Billboard of the encounter. "I just know that deep down inside, his comments don't mean s**t.

"I've never done this and it's going to be fun, and if he thinks for a minute that it's going to take my career down, I want what he's smoking," Tyler added.

The next season of American Idol begins on January 19.
