The singer, who appeared on the eighth season of the Fox competition, took to his Twitter and Facebook accounts over the weekend to share the news with fans.
"Ok guys... I have an announcement to make... THIS IS BIG NEWS... (sic)" he wrote. "It's official.. I'm ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sic)"
The 25-year-old also posted a link to an Us Weekly article which revealed that he will wed girlfriend Christina Teich later this year.
MacIntyre placed eighth during his American Idol season, which saw Kris Allen finishing first and Adam Lambert named runner-up.
