'American Idol's Brooke White expecting first child

Brooke White has announced that she is pregnant with her first child.

The former American Idol contestant and husband Dave Ray will welcome the baby in May.

White first revealed the news via her official website, BrookieBabbles.com last month, writing: "Yep, I'm havin' a baby, y'all! Wow, how weird does it feel to say that?! Super weird and yet super awesome!

"I have to say while it came as a happy surprise, and at the same time, later than I ever expected, I'm feeling great about having a baby at this point in my life!"

White added: "My baby's been a gem to me already. I really haven't slowed down since finding out the news in September. But I kept it a secret until about two weeks ago. There are a few really hard secrets I've kept in my life - one was American Idol and the other was being pregnant. I'm a confidentiality pro!"

She has since expressed her excitement to People, saying: "We're so excited. By the time the baby's born, we'll have been married eight years. I met Dave when I was 19 years old - we've been together a really long time, and we've always wanted to be parents."

Last year, White appeared in the TV movie Change In Plan, later admitting that she had been bitten by the acting bug.
