A source close to production had alleged that Minaj said: "If I had a gun I would shoot her."

However, American Idol producer Lythgoe denied the comments, stating: "The statement [that Nicki made a death threat] is absolute rubbish. It's absolutely not true in any way, shape or form."

The television executive added that Carey had asked Minaj about whether the death threat remark was true, with the rapper stating that it wasn't. He also stated that Carey's representatives were passing her incorrect information about the incident.

The 'Starships' rapper was said to have ceased production during North Carolina auditions yesterday (October 2), after arguing with Carey about a contestant's performance.

Minaj said that she would "knock out" her fellow judge in a clip obtained by TMZ, adding: "I told them, I'm not f**kin' putting up with her f**kin' highness over there."

Minaj is also heard saying to Carey: "Off with your head! Off with your head!"

It was recently reported that Carey and Minaj had called a "truce", after agreeing that fighting would not be good for American Idol viewers.
