Example denies launching "random attack" on Nicki Minaj

By
Example has denied launching a "random attack" on Nicki Minaj following her well-publicised feud with fellow American Idol judge Mariah Carey.

The 'Say Nothing' rapper explained that he was not specifically referring to video of Minaj shouting at her co-star when he told the press that he "wasn't a fan" of her "diva" behaviour.

"I recently said something about Nicki Minaj, but some people made it out like I was just having a random attack on her," Example told Entertainmentwise.

"The question was, 'Who do you prefer out of Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj?' so I said Mariah Carey. Then they said, 'Well why don't you like Nicki Minaj?' so I did give them a reason, but it definitely wasn't just a random attack."

American Idol bosses have attempted to play down the conflict between Minaj and Carey after the 'Starships' singer accused them of fuelling arguments.

The pair's warring has drawn comment from Stevie Nicks - who later apologised for saying she would have "strangled" Minaj "to death" - and President Barack Obama.
