Seacrest dieted to impress school crush

Ryan Seacrest has admitted that he went on an orange and grapefruit diet to impress a girl when he was at school.

The American Idol host said that he was often bullied for being chubby when he was younger and revealed that he was forced to take drastic action to impress a classmate.

Seacrest told Details magazine: "I had no courage to ask her out. So I started throwing away my lunch - I had been eating two sandwiches.

"For three months, I'd only eat an orange or a grapefruit, depending on the day."

The TV star also revealed that he is currently placing his career ahead of any personal relationships, which has worried his friends.

Chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres recently said of Seacrest: "He works too much, at the expense of his personal life. I'd love to see him meet a nice girl and settle down."
