Bristol Palin was the target of a suspicious package sent to CBS Studios, it has been reported.

Palin, who is the daughter of politician and former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, was named in a letter sent to Dancing with the Stars on Wednesday (October 3), according to TMZ.

It is claimed that the note - which was attached to a package containing a white powder - demanded that Palin is removed from the show.

The white substance was tested and found to be harmless, but police are said to be investigating the incident.

Palin has previously been targeted by similar parcels, including an incident where an ultimately harmless white powder was sent in fan mail addressed to her in the run-up to season 11's Dancing with the Stars finale in November 2010.

Talkshow host Craig Ferguson was also sent mail in August 2011 which contained threatening letters and a white powder.

The substance was initially believed to be anthrax, but was found to be cornmeal upon testing.
