'Fair City' actress Rachel Sarah Murphy announces pregnancy

Fair City's Rachel Sarah Murphy has announced her pregnancy.

The 28-year-old, who plays Jo Fahey on the soap, revealed that she will take maternity leave from the Irish soap opera from December, with the baby expected in late January, reports The Evening Herald.

Speaking at RTÉ's People of the Year Awards, she declared: "I am five months' pregnant.

"It's a girl and I've already named her Lolly, she'll be born at the end of January. She's big for her age, and I'm showing my big bump now."

Murphy continued: "I'm really busy with the story on the show and it's reaching the climax now. I'm working on Fair City and I'm running the acting school at the same time, so I'm still doing everything.

"No-one has been able to see the bump on the show; we have been trying to hide it very carefully, but now everyone will know.

"I'm going to take a few months out after December, I have a place down in Cobh in Cork so I plan to take some time out there."
