2374: John Paul comes clean with Myra

Darren sinks even further into despair when Frankie insists that she's washing her hands of his increasing debt crisis. Darren desperately tries to make Frankie see that he needs her on side, but Frankie is adamant it's Darren's mess and to leave her and Newt out of it. Cindy engineers a date with Darren and is shot down to earth when Darren reveals that Jack hasn't left any money, and deflated even further when she has to pick the bill up herself… Overhearing Darren and Frankie arguing about Jack, Newt is convinced they're talking about him and starts to feel uneasy. Lauren is amazed by how brilliant Newt's diary is but Newt insists that it's because Eli was real, not made up, and he frantically searches for the video he made of him to prove it. Newt is devastated to discover he's the only person in the video – Eli doesn't exist after all.

John Paul is tense as Kieron pushes him to tell Myra about their engagement. Kieron is insistent they tell Myra today if John Paul really wants to marry him and, faced with little choice, John Paul finally plucks up the courage. Myra is stunned and insists she won't let it happen. However, a stubborn John Paul is adamant she can't tell him what to do and insists they'll get married whether she likes it or not. Kieron goes to see Myra alone, hoping to appease her, but Myra is having none of it. However, Kieron's words have had an effect on her and both John Paul and Kieron are amazed when Myra tells them she's changed her mind – she'll do what she can to support their marriage.

Malachy and Mercedes try to play down their night of passion. As they wake in each other's arms, both Mercedes and Malachy insist that last night was a one-off and neither of them wants a relationship. Grumpy because he's been kept awake all night by them, Kris tries to wind Malachy up by telling him Russ will be jealous that Malachy slept with his ex-wife and he should tell him before he finds out. Worried, Malachy tentatively approaches Russ but Russ laughs it off and a relieved Malachy rushes off with Mercedes to spend a second night of passion together.

Niall's attempts to woo Steph with a lunch date go drastically wrong when Cindy accuses Steph of sleeping with the enemy and a catfight breaks out. Niall manages to separate Steph and Cindy but his plans for lunch are ruined. On the back foot, he tries to kiss Steph but it's too soon for her and he backs off, awkward. Has Niall ruined his chances again?
