Original EastEnders actor Ross Davidson has died aged 56 following a battle with brain cancer.
The actor, who also starred in Hollyoaks and Take The High Road passed away earlier this week.
The Scotsman played nurse Andy O’Brien in the original line-up for the BBC One soap.
Doctors diagnosed Davidson with a brain tumour in February 2005. Three months later he married wife Barbara, who has paid tribute to him.
“He was a great husband, great father and great son," she commented. "The amazing thing is Ross kept smiling until the bitter end.”
He died at his home in Essex at 9am after saying goodbye to his children, said his agent Keith Bishop. “Ross had surgery three times," he explained. "He searched the country for a cure and fought a brave fight.”
Current EastEnder Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale, added to the tributes. “Ross was a good man with a great sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye," he commented. "It’s a great shame he has left us.”
