S05E39: 'Down To Earth'

Ben and Bron find themselves held hostage by Ian Neal - a paranoid schizophrenic patient. Ian is convinced the world is in the grip of an alien led conspiracy and whilst he trusts Ben and Bron, he believes they have been infiltrated and sets about a ritual purification. His ritual involves holding Bron under the water until the ‘transmitter; inside her is deactivated. Ben, tied up and completely helpless, watches as Ian holds Bron under the water.

Ian's mother, Jennifer, is admitted to emergency suffering from a bewildering array of symptoms. Bleeding gums, tremors, hallucinations and uncontrollable weeping. Jennifer is convinced that she is going mad - just like her son

Ada is suffering from a fatal lung disease. She's been a transplant candidate for months but no donor lungs have been forthcoming. When a sixty-five year old patient, David Richardson, turns up on the ward with brain damage, Luke thinks he may have found the solution. But even when David's wife, Coral, learns that her husband is brain-dead, she resists turning off his life support.

Mitch too feels like he is being held hostage. He has heard through Rose's lawyer that she is intending to take him to the cleaners. She wants the house, both cars, the lot. But Mitch is determined to put up a fight.

A new temporary ward clerk, Miranda, turns all the men's heads. Jared, Luke and even Charlotte all jockey for position but Nelson is not about to be taken in so easily.
