2263: Jacqui's fuming by Tina's revelation

Tina can barely face Jacqui, Tony and Dom with the knowledge that Russ is actually the father of her baby, excusing herself from helping in Il Gnosh. She's on the verge of coming clean to a concerned Russ but he's suddenly hit with a stomach upset and goes racing off. Tony suggests buying a cot for the new baby but Jacqui's uneasy about tempting fate.

Understanding of her anxiety, Tony agrees to wait as they're interrupted by a sickly Russ, who is ushered upstairs to the flat loo by Dom. Hit with a sudden wave of determination to confess all to Dom, her honesty wavers when she realises that Russ is in the flat, and again, she fails to tell the truth.

Jacqui discovers that Tony has already bought a musical mobile for the new baby and gets caught up in his excitement of finally having a child of their own together. But Jacqui's optimism is soon shattered when a tearful Tina finally builds up the courage to tell her the awful truth that the baby is not Tony's…

Beth's touched when a suited Gilly presents her with a romantic breakfast but when he rushes off to an interview she turns her attentions to an amorous Rhys. Gilly bumps into Mercedes and encourages her to rekindle her relationship with Rhys. Her confidence restored, Mercedes picks up a bottle of wine and heads for the Ashworths'. Half-naked and panicking, Rhys answers the door to Mercedes who plonks herself down in the living room on the chair that Beth is hiding behind.

Oblivious, Mercedes reveals her vulnerable side to Rhys as she asks him advice on her family but she's furious when he spurns her advances. When Gilly returns and announces that he's trying to get a mortgage for him and Beth, she's filled with guilt, but this only lasts until her and Rhys are alone together again. As they kiss passionately in the hall, they're unaware that Josh and Michaela are about to come in the back door…

Kris is sceptical when Kieron insists that he can provide non-judgemental advice on sexuality issues for his radio phone in, while John Paul does his best to avoid getting involved. As Kieron handles the phone calls with ease, he and Kris have a great laugh together, and Kris is forced to reassess his opinion of the priest. As they continue their fun in The Dog, John Paul struggles to contain his jealousy over the firm friendship developing between Kieron and Kris…

As Michaela waffles on about their pop duo, Josh can't imagine anything worse than being in a band with her, and begins to regret abandoning Fletch to his new drug-ridden lifestyle.
