Tiana Benjamin

EastEnders' Chelsea Fox has definitely lived up to her name in recent weeks. If bedding Sean Slater and dying Dawn Swann's hair red for a practical joke wasn't enough - there's more to come when her 'lover', Sean, returns to our screens next month.

Actress Tiana Benjamin, 22, slipped away from her hair appointment to chat to DS about her sexiest female nomination at this year's Soap Awards, the potential for her involvement in a lesbian storyline and what's to come for Chelsea.

What does it feel like to be nominated for the sexiest female award?
"I don't know. Obviously It’s very flattering, but I think it’s down to makeup and wardrobe department! I don’t really think too hard about stuff like that - I think it’s definitely to do with Chelsea rather than me, to be honest!

"I’ve got the wardrobe thing happening [as Chelsea], the nails, the boots etc - it’s definitely a look that they put together for her which is quite glam. I don’t know if it’s me, to be honest. But it’s quite flattering."

Are you nothing like Chelsea, then?
"I wouldn’t say nothing like her in terms of - when I go out, I like to dress up and look the best I can, but I do think it’s more of a reflection on her. But It’s really nice, what can you say really? I feel as though it’s more to do with the character I play than it is with me."

What would it mean to you if you won?
"I’d be pretty happy. It’s always nice to win something, whatever it is. It'd be very flattering - because there are loads of stunning people that have been nominated. It’s also to do with the public vote, so it would be really flattering in that respect, too."

What's your mum said about it?
"My mum? She was really happy. I can’t remember exactly what she said about it, but she thought it was really funny, and obviously she’s really proud.

How do you feel about being up against Lacey [Turner] and Kara [Tointon]?
"Me and Kara had a bit of a laugh about it the other night. Lacey, I haven’t even asked her about it, but I don’t think any of us take it too seriously, really, we’re just all quite flattered to be in the category anyway!

"Me and Kara - I was like ‘you better win’, and she was like ‘you’d better win’, but we were joking, though. Either way, I’ll be happy. I don’t mind! But because I know them, personally, it would be nice [for them to win].

Almost there! Your clueword can be found in an interview with the actress behind Dr Who's new sidekick.

Why does EastEnders deserve to win best soap?
"You’re giving me proper hard questions! I do think it’s been a really good year for the show, to be honest. I think they’ve had a lot of really dynamic and dramatic storylines - especially the ones that are going on at the moment."
