In the latest in a series of storylines bringing the Watts/Fowler family back to the forefront of EastEnders, teenager Vicki Fowler is to get pregnant.
Her father Den, played by Leslie Grantham, will learn the news upon returning to the Square. One of the first things he has to do is persuade her not to have an abortion.
Vicki's pregnancy will be the result of a one-night stand with Spencer, younger brother of pub manager Alfie.
"Vicki is devastated when she realises she is pregnant," an insider told today's Mirror. "Spencer says he will stand by Vicki, but she insists she will get rid of the baby. Den never wanted to come back, but when Vicki gets into trouble he has no choice. He charges back in and tries to take control."
Den will be back on screens in September.
