Callard to return to Corrie full time

By
Bev Callard is on the point of coming back to Coronation Street full time, the actress told the News of the World today.

The 46-year-old - who plays "mutton dressed as lamb" mum Liz McDonald in the soap - left in 1998 to spend more time with her son but has just finished filming a four-week special in Blackpool with Charles Lawson (Jim McDonald), Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) and Suranne Jones (Karen McDonald). The reunion, due to air from next week, convinced her to come back for good.

"I'm definitely coming back," Callard told the newspaper. "I've just worked for four weeks and I had such a great time there's no way I can turn down a chance to come back.

"I arrived for filming on my first day and people were shouting 'Oh My God! You're back! I love Liz!' It was Simon's birthday too and he just hugged me and said he couldn't have a better birthday than his mum coming back."

Liz will be back on the cobbles from January to "cause havoc" at Steve and Karen's wedding. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
