Corrie sets Monday ratings alight
More than 14 million viewers tuned in to see the Underworld factory go up in flames last night.

Overnight rating figures show that an average of 13.68m - a 57.12% share of the audience - tuned in for the first episode of Coronation Street at 7.30pm, which saw Janice Battersby get locked in the store cupboard and set off the fire.

An average of 13.22m (50.37%) returned at 8.30pm to see disgruntled factory manager Nick Tilsley rescue her from the blaze.

Ratings peaked in the closing minutes of the first episode with a massive 14.48m (59.28%).

Sandwiched amongst Corrie at 8pm was EastEnders, which held a respectable 12.78m (50.85%).
