Coronation Street was the victor in the soap ratings battle last night, with 10m tuning in to see Gary Windass's trial.

The Manchester soap's first instalment at 7.30pm, which saw Tina making her surprise appearance at court, pulled in 10.06m (43.7%), while 9.65m (40%) returned to see Gary's 'not guilty' verdict at 8.30pm.

The repeats, which aired between 11.15pm and 12.15am on ITV2, added 143k (2%) and 153k (2.9%) respectively.

Meanwhile, EastEnders averaged 9.26m (39.5%) in its 8pm slot on BBC One. The repeat of the episode, in which Stacey betrayed her best friend Danielle, added 633k (3.7%) at 10pm on BBC Three.

Emmerdale's outing at 7pm was seen by 7.38m (34.6%).

Chester soap Hollyoaks attracted 1.83m (8.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, while E4's first look transmission at 7pm logged 639k (3.3%).

Daytime soap Doctors, meanwhile, put in 1.84m (26.6%) with 'Dem Bones' at 1.45pm on BBC One.

Rachel's discovery about Ty's past in Neighbours at 5.30pm on Five interested 1.52m (9.6%) and its 7pm repeat on Fiver added 347k (1.8%).

Home and Away's 6pm screening on Five took 1.25m (6.6%), while 730k (4%) watched the 6.30pm first look instalment, making it the most watched multichannel programme of the day.
