EastEnders achieved another narrow victory in the ratings battle with Emmerdale last night.

The Walford soap's episode at 7.30pm, which saw Bradley discovering that Syd has moved to Walford, averaged 6.65m (29.5%).

Debbie's release from prison during Emmerdale's hour-long instalment logged 6.51m (29.9%).

During the head-to-head period from 7.30pm, the Yorkshire soap's audience dipped slightly to 6.12m (27.2%).

BBC Three's 10pm EastEnders repeat brought in its highest ratings since mid February, adding a further 1.21m (6.9%). It was also the most watched multichannel programme of the day.

The second part of Doctors' double episode entitled 'Hillgate J-91: Part II' took 1.65m (24.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.

Hollyoaks' traditional 6.30pm Channel 4 outing, which saw Sarah flirting with newcomer Fernando, interested 1.61m (8%), while 618k (3.3%) tuned in for E4's first look at 7pm.

E4+1's timeshift repeat added 108k (0.5%) at 8pm.

The ongoing search for Zeke in Neighbours drew 1.5m (9.9%) at 5.30pm on Five, while a further 248k (1.3%) caught the 7pm repeat on Fiver.

Five's 6pm transmission of Home and Away was seen by 1.05m (5.7%), before 517k (2.9%) tuned in for Fiver's first look 30 minutes later.
