EastEnders took an overall lead in the soaps ratings battle on Tuesday night.

The BBC's second episode of wedding week, which saw Archie trying to force Danielle out of Walford, was seen by 6.48m (30.5%) at 7.30pm.

Emmerdale's hour-long 7pm outing, which featured Carl and Lexi's wedding, was seen by 6.33 (31.3%)

During the 30-minute head-to-head period, Emmerdale's figures dropped slightly to 6.1m (28.6%).

BBC Three's repeat of EastEnders pulled in its largest audience since Christmas, adding 1.5m (8.3%) at 10pm and ranking as the most watched multichannel programme of the day.

Meanwhile, BBC One's daytime medical drama Doctors logged 1.68m (25.1%) at 1.45pm for its episode entitled 'Restraint'.

Channel 4's traditional 6.30pm instalment of Hollyoaks drew 1.66m (9%), before E4's first look logged 589k (3.4%) at 7pm. Its timeshift transmission on E4+1 took 100k (0.5%).

Five's Neighbours, which saw Donna trying to win back Ringo, averaged 1.41m (10.4%) in its regular 5.30pm slot. Fiver's 7pm repeat added a further 177k (1%).

Home and Away's audience dipped below 1m again, interesting just 919k (5.4%) at 6pm. Fiver's first look at 6.30pm drew 516k (3.1%).
