EastEnders was the victor in the early evening ratings battle on Monday, despite some viewers' claims that they were planning to boycott the show following Danielle's death last Thursday.

The episode, which saw Peggy ask her son Phil to kill Archie, was seen by 9.92m (41.6%) at 8pm, while its BBC Three repeat at 10pm was the most watched multichannel programme of the day, adding 938k (5.2%).

ITV's two Monday night outings of Coronation Street, which saw Fiz turn to former flame John Stape for help and Tina returning from her holiday, were watched by 9.4m (42%) and 9.68m (40.3%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively.

ITV2's repeats between 11.30pm and 12.30am added 105k (1.7%) and 108k (2.6%).

The 7pm visit to Emmerdale, during which Sandy was thrown out of Mulberry, logged 7.03m (34%).

Doctors' outing at 1.45pm on BBC One, entitled 'The Final Straw', averaged 1.71m (22.8%).

Hollyoaks' daily Channel 4 outing at 6.30pm brought in 1.64m (8.4%), before its timeshift repeat on Channel 4+1 added 123k (0.6%). E4's first look attracted 516k (2.8%) at 7pm.

Rebecca's move into the Parkers during Five's Neighbours was seen by 1.25m (8.8%) in its usual 5.30pm slot, while Fiver's repeat instalment added 294k (1.6%) at 7pm.

Home and Away's 6pm edition on Five attracted 1.04m (5.8%), while Fiver's first look took 652k (3.7%).
