'General Hospital' films in high definition
Published Friday, Apr 10 2009, 03:08 BST | By Darren Rowe

The series, currently in its 46th year on air, will become only the second Daytime soap to be broadcast in high definition after The Young And The Restless began HD transmission in June 2001.
ABC spent a reported $3 million upgrading the soap's Los Angeles studio and control room, a move which impressed ABC Daytime President Brian Frons.
"Because the cameras operate in less light, you get much more of a filmic, primetime look," he said. "It will allow the realism of General Hospital to grow bigger than it's ever been."
