Coronation Street took a narrow lead in the early evening soaps ratings battle on Friday, overnight figures show.

ITV's final two Weatherfield visits of the week, which saw Tara discover Dev's infidelity and Jack bonding with Connie over tea, were seen by 8.48m (41%) and 8.24m (36.4%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively.

ITV2's repeat screenings between 11pm and midnight added 268k (2.2%) and 259k (2.8%).

EastEnders' Friday episode, during which Jack threatened Roxy with legal action over baby Amy, delivered 8.04m (36.7%) at 8pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 598k (3.4%)

Meanwhile, Emmerdale's outing, which featured Victoria revealing to Daz that she may be pregnant, attracted 6.47m (34.5%).

BBC One's daytime medical drama Doctors took 1.61m (20.9%) for its episode 'Stealing Beauty' at 1.45pm.

Ste's best laid plans for Lucas's naming ceremony were ruined during last night's Hollyoaks, which drew 1.61m (9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4. E4's first look interested 511k (3%) at 7pm.

Five's screening of Neighbours at 5.30pm, which saw Miranda interfering with Bridget's search for her biological mother, averaged 1.24m (9.4%). Fiver's repeat at 7pm added 170k (1%).

Home and Away's usual 6pm outing on Five dipped below the million mark again, logging just 969k (6%). Fiver's first look had 439k (2.8%) at 6.30pm.
