Coronation Street took a marginal lead in the soaps ratings battle on Friday evening, overnight figures show.

The ITV soap's two Friday instalments, which saw Becky telling Amy the truth about her mum and Julie dragging Jason to the bedroom, took 7.34m (37.4%) and 7.71m (36.1%) respectively.

ITV2's repeats between 11pm and midnight added 213k (1.8%) and 176k (2.1%).

Meanwhile, 7.63m (36.8%) tuned in for EastEnders' final episode of the week, during which Masood came face to face with his estranged son Syed for the first time in four years.

BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most watched multichannel programme of the day, adding 630k (3.6%).

Emmerdale's outing at 7pm, which featured Daz's departure from the viallge, attracted 6.06m (34.1%).

BBC One's screening of Doctors, titled 'Footlights and Flounces', interested 1.56m (25%) at 1.45pm.

Hollyoaks' regular 6.30pm offering on Channel 4 managed 1.33m (8%), before its timeshift repeat on Channel 4+1 logged 131k (0.8%). E4's first look at 7pm had 466k (2.9%), while E4+1's repeat added 104k (0.6%).

Five's edition of Neighbours, in which Greg and Steph reached a crossroads in their relationship, delivered 1.33m (10.6%). Fiver's repeat added 222k (1.4%).

Home and Away's transmission at 6pm, during which Leah and Roman shared another kiss, was seen by 1.03m (6.7%). Fiver's first look took 514k (3.5%) 30 minutes later.
