EastEnders was the most watched soap last night, clearing Emmerdale by almost a million viewers.

BBC One's second visit of the week to Walford, during which Heather suffered an asthma attack, delivered 7.55m (35.9%) at 7.30pm.

BBC Three's 10pm repeat added a further 894k (5%).

Meanwhile, Emmerdale's offering at 7pm, which saw Cain return to the village to the surprise of his daughter Debbie, attracted 6.57m (33.9%).

Doctors' episode, entitled 'Lucky', logged 1.68m (23.4%) at 1.45pm.

Channel 4's 6.30pm instalment of teen soap Hollyoaks, which featured another lesbian kiss between Lydia and Sarah, brought in 1.52m (8.3%).

E4's first look managed 565k (3.2%) at 7pm, while E4+1's timeshift repeat added 150k (0.7%).

Five's screening of Neighbours, in which Bridget realised that she was being watched, took 1.49m (11%), before its 7pm repeat on Fiver had 306k (1.8%).

Home and Away attracted 1.22m (7.3%) for its 6pm episode, while Fiver's first look had 572k (3.5%).
