Coronation Street was the most watched soap on Wednesday, overnight figures show.

Corrie's midweek episode, which featured the fallout from Paula's shock confession about Colin, logged 7.95m (38.7%) at 7.30pm. ITV2's repeat at 10.30pm added a further 269k (1.9%).

Emmerdale's instalment, which saw Carl and Cain come to blows, took 6.13m (33.4%) at 7pm.

BBC One's daytime medical drama Doctors attracted 1.66m (26.5%) at 1.45pm for its episode entitled 'Someone To Watch Over Me'.

Hollyoaks' usual 6.30pm outing on Channel 4 interested 1.51m (8.8%), then Channel 4+1's timeshift repeat added 104k (0.6%).

E4's first look edition took 398k (2.4%) at 7pm, then E4+1's repeat averaged 103k (0.5%).

Neighbours' 5.30pm transmission on Five, which saw Bridget meet her biological mother, drew 1.34m (10.9%). Fiver's repeat added 274k (1.7%) at 7pm.

Five's screening of Home and Away at 6.30pm, in which Joey and Charlie confessed their love for each other, managed 1.11m (7.1%), while Fiver's first look was the most watched multichannel programme of the day, attracting 577k (3.8%)
